Artists use a variety of materials to make their sculptures: clay, stone, wood, bone, glass, metal. Some mold short-life creations from sand, while others cut them out of ice.

Vincent Bouillat,
a contemporary French artist, creates his funny animals out of canvas. First he makes a wire structure (a skeleton) and then he stretches canvas over it, giving the fabric a variety of curves. When the sculpture is ready, the artist paints it in white. Black or dark-brown eyes give his creations a special charm.
