Izik Lambez was born in Tel Aviv in 1970. From 1987 to 1991 he studied painting at the Joshua Griffit studio and for another four years he studied and worked with the well-known Israeli artist Menashe Kadishman.

The two maintain a close friendship. Lovingly and respectfully, Kadishman writes about the young artist: Lambez was born an artist A new generation of artists seems to have emerged here, whose paintings address the beauty of life... a generation that wants to paint and live like a bird chirping every morning at the rising sun, that strives to paint as if swimming in the sea gravity-free, to have fun freely and naively... Lambez is certainly one of the harbingers of this generation; a generation to whom the future belongs.

Since 1994, Lambez has presented his works at numerous exhibitions in Israel, Spain, Brazil, and Germany. In 2000, he became a member of the Israeli Association of Painters and Sculptors. He lives and works in Israel and in Spain, dividing his time between Tel Aviv and La Gomera in the Canary Islands.

The artist loves the sea, and the sea returns its gratitude by serving as a major source of inspiration. It may be the influence of his age, though more probably a reflection of his personality, but the sea on his canvases is never stormy or angry, but rather friendly and calm. His daylight scenes convey the tranquility and warmth of a southern sea and are full of positive emotions and optimism. The night scenes resemble love serenades sung in a low voice so as not to disturb the peace and quiet of the nights harmony.

Lambez is looking for new artistic directions. A good example is his painting Yellow and Red. At first glance it is an abstract work hailing the power and beauty of colors, but at closer inspection the viewer discovers the warmth of the bright-yellow southern sun, the clarity and transparency of the blue-green seawater, both contrasting with the bow of his favorite red boat. Lambezs lyric paintings evoke romantic poetry and music; this inspired us to title the show SEA BALLAD.
